Trekking In Nepal after Covid – 12 Routes are now Open and are ready to welcome you.
Nepal is the world’s premier destination for trekking and is the country where commercial trekking was pioneered back in the early 1960s and Trekking in Nepal is one of the most popular tourism activities. Since the 1960s, when the first commercial trek was organized by Col Jimmy Robert, Nepal has drawn trekkers from around the world. Trekking has become Nepal’s leading tourist sport, with thousands going to the Himalayas, some hiking for a few days, while others take a month-long trek through valleys and high mountain passes. Two of the most popular trekking regions are Everest and Annapurna where many different trails can be followed while the other popular treks are in the Langtang and Kanchenjunga regions.

When the world is got hit by a global pandemic all the tourism activity all around the world is disturbed and is stopped. Nepa and all tourism activities couldn’t remain untouched by this pandemic. All domestic and international tourist movements, flight, and all tourism services been shut down along with other services. Hotel rooms were converted into Quarantine rooms for returned travelers. But now it seems like the tourism sector is now going to flourish again and we can go live with nature and Adventure once again.
On 19th October 2020, Sarita Lama, General Secretary, TAAN published a letter of Notice mentioning that 12 Trekking routes around the country are now open for all domestic and international travelers to Explore. However, every traveler is required to get COVID – PCR test Negative report and trekking permit as required by the routes.

- Evererst( Pasang Lhamu Govt.) Trekking Area
- Langtang Trekking Area
- Annapurna Circuit Trekking Area
- Mardi Himal Trekking Area
- Mustang Trekking Area
- Dolpa Trekking Area
- Humla Trekking Area
- Manaslu Trekking Area
- Helmu Trekking Area
- Ruby Vally Trekking Area

As per the statement in the letter, Local Tourism Management committee has closed Annapurna base camp and Ghandruk Area from Jhunudada.

Tips to get PCR Report and Trekking permit In Nepal :
- If you are coming from abroad you might have done PCR before boarding a flight, that will work or you can get one in Nepal.
- For trekking permit,
Free Individual Trekkers: Free Individual Trekkers can obtain TIMS cards from TIMS check-post in Pokhara, and the offices of Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu and Pokhara, upon filling up the TIMS application form.
Organized Trekkers: Organized Trekkers can obtain TIMS cards from TAAN Secretariat in Maligaun, TAAN TIMS Counter in Saatghumti, Thamel, and TAAN Pokhara Secretariat in Pokhara.
Opening Hours:

- TIMS counter at TAAN Secretariat follows regular working hours (10 am-5 pm) and during winter months (Nov. 01- Jan 31) it opens from (10 am-4 pm). It is closed on Saturdays and public holidays.
- TIMS Counter at Saatghumti, Thamel opens at 7 am and closes at 6 pm. On Saturdays and public holidays, however, the counter opens from 10 am to 1 pm.
- Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) follows government working hours i.e. 10 am till 5 pm. It, however, is closed on Saturdays and public holidays.
